What is Paragliding?
The parachute which is laid on a proper slope will be filled with air as soon as the pilot starts running, takes its wing form and carries the pilot; as the pilot continues his/her running for another 4-5 meters it takes off and then begins a comfortable and a safe flight gliding in a certain angle.
The duration of the flights differ from the weather conditions of the area, the performance of the equipment and the experience of the pilot and may extend for hours and miles.
Paragliding first began in the early ’80s and short after became very popular. The most important reasons of its popularity are because it is the most economic aviation equipment known and it is an outdoor sport. Paragliding, which doesn’t require a special talent or too much effort, is quite easy and fun after standard training.
Paragliding in Turkey began with foreign pilots discovering Babadag in Ölüdeniz, Fethiye region in the early ’90s and first spread among the university aviation clubs. Today, Ölüdeniz Babadağ is considered as one of the best flying sites in the world and draws hundreds of foreign pilots every year. There are about 2000 pilots in Turkey and the number increases every year.
Ikarus and Paragliding School
Ikarus Sport Aviation is a paragliding school associated with United States Hang Gliding Association (USHGA) by its trainers. IKARUS has continued its trainings with its experienced trainers since 1991.
The trainings go on all year long. The training and flights that take place within the country in summer; continues in Israel and Spain because of the mild climate and Bulgaria with skiing areas suitable for flying in winter; and, in Denizli with its suitable nature for this sport all year. IKARUS Aviation, which is in contact with many foreign paragliding schools, performs joint activities with foreign aviation associations.

Ikarus Sport Aviation is a team that has been a part of the world of sport aviation since 1991 and aims to expand the enthusiasm of this sport throughout turkey with a professional point of view. Ikarus Sport Aviation is a paragliding school in association with United States Hang Gliding Association (USHGA). The Ikarus team takes an active role in the commission that is formed under the Civil Aviation General Management running preparations of the regulations for very light aviation vehicles.
Our training activities: In Turkey, we continue our training activities whole year long in many different places. Our professional activities: We make flight trips in various regions in Turkey with sport aviation vehicles. Furthermore, we work with marketing, promotion, sales and public relations departments of companies and perform very special shows and attractive projects. Tandem Flights
Ikarus Sport Aviation is ready to entertain you in the sky with its experienced staff. You needn’t get any training or know anything to join our Tandem (Two persons) flights. Everything is under the control of our experienced staff, all you have to do is make a reservation and add unforgettable memoirs to your holiday. Watch the spectacular beauty of Oludeniz through the clouds.
The Tandem Flight will have a distinctive place beside the other activities you do during your holiday. Your unforgettable memoirs that will start in front of our office shall continue after the flight while you are entering our office with a wonderful smile just like theirs, because they have flown.
Our Flight Tours in the Fethiye/ Ölüdeniz Area
These tours are for domestic and foreign pilots who spend their holiday in the region and want to fly from different sites. Our tours take place in Oludeniz with the company of our professional guides every day from March till October. Accomodation, breakfast, lunch , dinner, and transfers in the region is included in this tour program. All pilots who wish to benefit from our professional service and splendid flight areas are welcome.
Daily Tours : Kaş
Two day tours : Gökova / Sakar, Ödemiş / Bozdağ, Isparta/ Eğirdir, Denizli/ Kaklık-Çökelez
We pick you up from your hotel. We hit the beautiful forest road with our 4X4 jeep and drive among the magnificent ancient cedars. Our jeep safari will take 45 minutes until we reach the take off areas of Babadağ (1960 m.) that are accepted to be the safest and most beautiful flight areas in the world. Your pilot gives you a short briefing about what you should do: "Just run a couple of steps with me".
Now you have all the necessary information for the flight. This is why; it’s something that everyone from age of 7 to 70 can do easily. You are ready to take off. Start running with your pilot’s command and after a few steps you are right in the middle of the scenery you’ve always watched from far away.
You are in the sky & You are as comfortable as you are sitting in your armchair at home, and since you don’t have to hold or do anything you can relax and enjoy the view. Your hands are free; you can, if you wish, take pictures, have something to drink or even talk to those who are waiting for you on the ground and share your joy and excitement by means of a walkie-talkie.

And, there are the ones waiting for you below. 30-45 minute dream is about to end and you will land in front of our office in a short while. All you have to do is to lean forward a little and with the landing maneuver of the pilot and put your feet on the ground. This will be as soft as jumping down a chair.
