ARARATTREK KAÇKAR MOUNTAINS EXPEDITION

Kaçkarlar is in east Black Sea Mountain Series. The peak of the Kaçkar mountain is 3937 metres (12,933 feet) You can see many tones of green from the Black Sea shore to the mountains in Rize. There is a Trans Kaçkar route from Artvin to Rize for trekkers. You will see wonderful crater lakes and flowers in the area. The Kaçkar is similar to the Swiss Alps, with meadows of stunning flowers and wooden chalets. At the top of Mount Kaçkar, you will be rewarded with the most stunning views of hundreds of snow-capped peaks and crater lakes.
In the rainy and lush landscapes of northeastern Turkey, the Kaçkar mountains form the northern section of the Anatolian mountain chain. The Kaçkar-Kavron summit, at an altitude of 3937 meters, (12,933 feet), is the highest point in the range. Extensive glacier and water erosion have given these mountains their craggy, rugged look, and they are known for the complexity and power of the streams and rivers which rush down to the lower altitudes. In fact, this range is the third most important glacial region in Turkey following the Ağrı (Ararat) and Cilo-Sat mountains. The geological and mountaineering aspects of the Kaзkars contribute to their importance in Turkey’s economy and tourism.
The region enjoys an almost subtropical climate of temperate yet rainy weather with an average temperature of 14 C. The lowest temperature, 7 C., fall in the month of January while August sees the hottest days reaching a maximum recorded temperature of 22.6 C. 
The Kaçkars rise in between the shores of the Black Sea to the north and the River Çoruh valley to the south. On the northern flank, a good variety of vegetation flourishes in the rainy climate. Up to 500 meters above sea level, tea plantations and citrus orchards cover the hillsides. Chestnut, hornbeam, beech and other large-leafed trees forest the slopes to 750 meters. Between 750-1500 meters of elevation, pines mix in with the large leafed trees forest the slopes to 750 meters. Alpine meadows and other grassy vegetation covers the ground above 2100 meters. On the southern faces of the Kaзkars, which receive strong sunshine and less precipitation, the agriculture is based on the cultivation of fruits and vines. As on the north side in the higher elevations, meadows of wild flowers and grass blanket the slopes up to 2300 meters.

TRIP ITINERARY:
DAY 1:
Arrive in Erzurum Airport meet you there and start our expedition transfer by minivan to Yusufeli Barhal (Altıparmak) Village. Overnight at the pension in Barhal.(D)
DAY 2:
After breakfast gear check, transfer to Yaylalar village by minivan. Loading the backpacks to mules, we will start trekking to Olgunlar Village our first camp. Overnight in camp. (B/L/D).
DAY 3:
After having breakfast and packing up, we start to Trekking to the Dilberdüzü base camp 2900m. Overnight in camp. (B/L/D).
DAY 4:
Optional climb to Kaçkar summit. (3917m) 5-6 hrs. we will have to walk on snow for short distances. It is a good day for daily treks around for those who would choose not to summit. Camp at Dilberdüzü same as yesterday. Overnight in Camp. (B/L/D).
DAY 5:
After breakfast packing up and trekking from Dilberdüzü to Dobedüzü nice and high trek with beautiful views of the lakes and streams around. Camp at Dobedüzü. (B/L/D).
DAY 6:
After having breakfast and packing up, trekking down to the Yaylalar Village and transfer by minivan to Barhal (Altıparmak) Village and rest at the pension. (B/L/D).
DAY 7:
Visit Barhal Church in the morning transfer to Erzurum Airport for departure on the way visit of Oshk Venk Church. Say good bye, see you in the other expeditions. (B)
