Atakцy Marina Yacht Club sailing school is open to all children interested in being tought the art and science of sailing. All children between the ages of 7 - 15 are eligible to become the students at AMYC Sailing School. The sailing course lasts for 25 days in total and is divided into two terms, starting at the beginning of summer right after schools have been closed for summer holidays and continuing till August. Applications are admitted from April till the commencement of the course.
The students meet on Mondays through Fridays at 10 a.m. for a six-hour class. The first week of the training is dedicated to the theory lessons whereas the rest amount of time is spent learning to sail on the water in dinghies, 2.5 metre optimist prams, designed for teaching young children, under the instructor’s control and with the observance of his two assistants, all of them being skilled sailors with a great attitude toward children who passed Sailing Instructor Certification programme of the Turkish Sailing Federation and the Management of Training Department.
Enrolment will be confirmed upon payment of the appropriate fee which do not include the costs of the special attire and life-jackets.
Upon completion of this learn-to-sail programme, the student is enabled to receive the Participant Certificate.
The evaluation of the students - skills and knowledge is being made in the duration of the whole course by observing their general success diagram, their enthusiasm in sailing, sense of seamanship and sportsmanship, competitive confidence and overall suitability for maritime activities. The students found fitting these criteria could continue their training and become a certified sailor.
